I am not very familiar with blogs, so answering the first question is a bit difficult. However, from what I can tell with the ones that were assigned and others that I have read, it seems like blogs are a place to share anything from opinions, updates, event information, experiences, jokes, stories, news, and really anything that a person wants. Not only does the writer’s voice get heard, but also the readers can respond in such a way that is perhaps unprecedented. Blogs allow for much more communication between the writer and reader. It is very different from classic journalism in the fact that anyone can set up a blog and be successful. Many of the writers on the blogs are very opinionated. They are not shy when it comes to sharing what they really think, feel, or experienced.

I get exited about the fact that I could potentially comment on anyone’s blog post and share my opinion. Instead of reading an article and not being able to voice my opinion, a blog makes it not only possible, but easy to do so. Also, I really like the fact that many of the bloggers seem to take new angles to the same stories that appear on the news, at least that is what is seems like to me so far. I think that once a person finds a blog to follow they would be much more invested in it than they would be in any other news paper or station. I am really excited about how interactive blogging can be.

The most challenging thing for me about blogging is the fact that I am really unfamiliar with it. And even though I like the fact that the writers of blogs share their true opinions, I also feel like objectivity may be hard to come by. I realize that it is extremely difficult, if not impossible to be truly objective, but it seems as if some blogs don’t even make the effort. I think that with more freedom on blogs, writers might become a little more reckless in what they write. Maybe I am wrong, like I said, I have not read that many blogs, so I am not speaking form experience, just first impressions.
